The Bryan-College Station community is invited to attend the fifth annual, family-friendly Dia de los Muertos celebration on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sue Haswell Park in Bryan. The event is free to the public and will include a complimentary meal, activities for children and mass at 6 p.m.
Food is free of charge and drinks will be sold for $1. Activities for children, including train rides and craft activities will also be available for $1. Individuals and families are invited to bring photos and other memorabilia of loved ones who have passed to place on an altar, in accordance with tradition.
This year the Americana Familia Foundation provided funds to Bryan ISD’s "Read by 3rd" initiative focused on preparing parents to partner with teachers in order to help their children achieve academic success.
Scholarship dollars will go to high school seniors who speak English as their second language to pay for one full year of their tuition and books. Students interested in applying for the scholarship can get more information from their school guidance counselor
