Aggies CAN” canned food drive beginning on Wednesday and culminating at the Texas A&M-Vanderbilt football game on Saturday.
“Aggies CAN” is the largest student-athlete-run canned food drive in the nation. Last year it raised more than $20,000 and 6,000 pounds of non-perishable food items for the Brazos Valley Food Bank. In 2013, Aggies CAN has set a goal of $25,000 and 8,000 pounds of canned goods to support not only the Brazos Valley Food Bank, but also a new on-campus food bank called the 12th Can that will serve as an additional source of support for the common mission of eradicating hunger in the Brazos Valley.
In an effort to make more of an impact, Whataburger is the proud sponsor of this year’s Aggies CAN. For every dollar donated or every two canned goods, donors will be given a coupon for FREE Whataburger. Look for the Aggies CAN participants in their traditional bright lime green t-shirts at both Whataburger locations in College Station from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on October 23- 24, and then on October 25 at the Aggie Soccer (8 p.m.) and Aggie Volleyball (6 p.m.) games as well as October 26th at the Texas A&M-Vanderbilt football game at Kyle Field (11:21 a.m.). Aggies Can will be collecting monetary and canned food donations.
